Iulian Furtuna – Actor
January 13, 2015Iulian Furtuna is a mime actor, puppeteer and director. He was born in Romania and now lives in France. He trained at the Bucharest Theatre and Cinema Conservatoire, the Marcel Marceau School of Mime in Paris, and the LEM (Laboratory of Movement at the International School of Jacques Lecoq). In 1998, after working as an actor, dancer and puppeteer, he founded his own company to create theatre, dance productions, and exhibitions using plastic art and video including Ficelle!, Uncle Vania, Oh, Quel Monde..., Les copropriétaires. He has worked as a stage director and performer in Tanzania, Malawi, the UK, Spain, Germany, France, New Caledonia and Romania. Since 2004 he has been a puppeteer for the programme Les Guignols de l’Info, and he also makes short films and video clips for Canal +. Since 1997 he has been a dramatic arts teacher, teaching acting and puppet handling, at EICAR, the University of Art in Edinburgh, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. His performances are touring in the biggest theatres in France and worldwide.
